Ava is a personal voice agent. She talks with you, keeps what she learns as files on your computer, and — when you ask — rewrites her own source, compiles, and comes back changed. You are not locked to the features we shipped.
Local-first by default. Optional Grok cloud. Open source.

Say Ava, improve yourself by… and she opens her own source, makes the change, proves the app still compiles, speaks that she is done, and restarts. The next time she wakes, she is the companion you asked for.

Desktop only. She needs Node, npm, and Rust on the machine, and a Grok sign-in to do the work. If a tool is missing, she will tell you.
Voice
A presence you talk to, not a chat box you type at.
The primary interface is spoken conversation. Open the voice channel and leave it on, or hold to talk. She listens with Moonshine on the device. She speaks with Kokoro, the system voice, or Grok Voice if you are signed in.
Speak
Kokoro 82M runs on-device — Bella, Nicole, Adam, Puck, Eric, Isabella, George. Grok Voice when you want the cloud: Carina, Eve, Ara, Luna, Leo, Rex, Sal.

Intelligence
Private on this device, or Grok in the cloud.
Onboarding asks how she should think. You can switch later in Settings. Local models download as you use them. Grok needs SuperGrok, X Premium+, or an xAI API key.
On this device
Qwen 0.6B–4B and Gemma 1B for spoken replies, sized to the machine. WebGPU and WebNN when the hardware exposes them, WASM if not. Files stay in a folder you pick.
Grok cloud
Sign in and conversation can run on Grok 4.6, 4.5, or 4.3. That same login unlocks Grok Voice and Imagine, so she can generate or edit images when you ask.
One presence
She answers as Ava — calm, short, spoken — not a set of bots or modes. Change the subject and she follows you. She does not ask you to pick a chat to keep talking.
Memory
What she keeps is a folder of files you can open.
During setup you choose where Ava should keep what she learns. Topics, people, and identity are markdown files on disk — not a hidden cloud profile. Say “remember that…” and she will keep it. Ask what she remembers, and she will tell you.

Work
Talk is the start. She can also do the work.
Voice is the interface. Behind it she can open a Grok coding session, hand a task to GitHub Copilot, call MCP tools, and lend her own voice to other agents on your machine.
Grok sessions in the window
Say “work on my Nostria project” or “open a Grok session.” On desktop she installs or uses the Grok CLI, picks a folder, and you keep talking while she works. “Back to Ava” leaves the session. “Stop” cancels the current turn.
Copilot in the background
Sign in with GitHub Copilot and say “ask Copilot to…”. She can work on files and GitHub from a workspace you allow. Writes stay off until you turn them on.
MCP both ways
Weather is built in. Add GitHub or any MCP server. While Ava is open, other local agents can call her at 127.0.0.1:7456 to speak through her voice.
Files, photos, audio
Attach a file to summarize or draft a reply. With Grok, generate or edit a photo. Hand her a text file and she can speak it as audio you can save.
What to say
She already understands these. The rest, you can teach her.
Copy a line and say it. Self-improve is how you add the features that are not on this list.
Get Ava
Install her. Then just speak.
Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. The desktop app updates itself. Self-improvement lives on desktop.
